It had been a miserable day sat in watching surf videos waiting for wind as it was pouring doen outside. However around 3pm the skies started to clear and the wind picked up so we went across to the beach.

When we got there Derek and ben were playing around with kites and the wind was around 18 knots so I rigged my 5.7m and big board. As i did so the wind filled in and ben went off to get his windsurfing kit expecting to rig a 4.5m. Steve rigged his 5.5m and small board so I decided to leave my big kit rigged and also rig my 5.0m and wave board and go out on that.

The 5.0m was fine most of the time but there were some big lulls, in which I just sunk and I was never maxed out on it. So I ended up messing around going out first on the big bard with the 5m, then back to the 5m and wave board, then out with the 5.7m and big board. The winds were gusty and no combination was perfect. I should have got my old Hifly board out really as the 5.7m and a 85 ltr board would probably have been the best combination for the conditions.

It was still pretty good though, with some good runs, the odd jump and some nice little wave-rides. Ben and I got pretty close on one wave! Ben left first and Steve and I stayed on the water until around 8pm.
